Approx 6/7 lessons on the set magazine products for Component 2 Section B of A Level Media: codes and conventions, context, media language and representations. These lessons make use of the Eduqas resources and the textbooks. The Eduqas past and SAMS mark schemes can be adapted and used to mark the exam questions included in certain lessons. A double lesson which introduces the concept of media representations to year 10 students (but could be taught to any year group). This lesson focuses on the representation of nation in the media, explores the concept of stereotyping and introduces representations theory and LOTS of media terminology. Also included is a creative task and an essay based task on the representation of nation in The Daily Mail (Trumpquake).

A full SoW on this set product for Component 1 Section B which explores: context, industry and audience and includes a lesson on how to approach the ‘stepped questions’ in section B looking at SAMS and exam questions which are NOT SAMS (the SAMS mark scheme can be used as a guide for marking these). Makes use of the Eduqas year 1 and 2 A Level textbooks.

A lesson which looks at approaching unseen analysis and guides students through the comparison question for Eduqas A Level Media Component 1 Section A. This exam question, which is similar to the SAMS question (so this mark scheme can be used), compares the set product Tide with a 1950s Quality Street advert (taken from the Eduqas GCSE set products).

A two hour lesson which introduces and explores the feminist theory bell hooks. This is a set theory for Eduqas A Level media but relevant to all study of media representations. The lessons focuses on: Time Magazine, Beyonce’s Formation and The Jinx but these could be replaced with any relevant media products.

A detailed range of lessons on Luther and TV crime drama for Eduqas GCSE media studies. These lessons cover the whole Eduqas specification: media language, genre and narrative, representations, industry, audience, contexts and exam practice. This makes use of wider TV crime drama texts and the Eduqas textbook.

A lesson which introduces the concept of Media Representations and stereotypes in relation to gender in print based media. The lessons explores typical stereotypes of men/women and examines the use of these on a wide range of print based adverts but modern and historic.

Can be used as a classroom display or handout/revision aid for students. This is a bank of active verbs for writing about, and analysing, media products and a bank of 'sentence starters' to help students integrate media theory into their analysis of media products. This is aimed at A Level media students and based on the Eduqas theoretical framework and set theories.

Lessons explore: media language, representations, intertextuality and contexts. Media theory is also explored in some lessons. A detailed and comprehensive multi week scheme of work on music videos focusing on Formation for A Level Eduqas Media Studies component 1 section A. All elements of the theoretical framework are covered as well as practice exam questions based on SAMS material.

A lesson which explores the concept of sound, sound terminology and the effect of, and importance of, sound in communicating meaning. A great introduction of teaching music videos (or any AV media where sound will be explored in depth!)
